Camping for Spring Break 2019

Oh what do you do when you both have to work for Spring break
but you want to enjoy some family time too
Camping!
Fun two days of camping at
Lake Mineral Wells State Park with family!
We hiked and we fished and we
cooked food on the campfire
and we had a lot of s'mores

Catch up on School news

Katy had her Sky Ranch trip.
5th grade takes 4 days at camp to
learn about environmental science.
The kids had a great time!  I loved seeing my daughter
hanging out with her friends and realizing that she
is the amazing person I raised.
Speaking of amazing persons... In 3rd grade the kids
pick a person (alive or dead) who was influential.
Nikki picked Susan B Anthony!
"Why?" her teacher asked "Because she gave voices to
those without voices"  -Love that kid!

More amazing news from the school-front.
Katy participated in UIL (I will admit that I had no idea what
this was when she signed up)
But
She placed 5th in art appreciation and her team took 1st!
Great job!

Also the school host a World Party night
the kids spend a lot of time researching
life in different parts of the world.
Nikki researched India

And Katy was researching Art in Peru

January trip to Galveston

We had a three day weekend in January - all of us!
That never happens - so on a whim we packed up
and spent the weekend in Galveston!

We had a lot of fun exploring the island.
Especially since it was winter and it was just us and some
snow-birds enjoying the chilly but sunny weekend.

Moody gardens is definitely a re-do.
I would go back just to visit the rainforest!
And again no crowds so the kids got to get close
to the animals

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Christmas time 2018
We spent a beautiful fall day at the Dallas
Arboretum enjoying the
12 Days of Christmas decorations

Bonus - on top of the Christmas decorations
we got a little Fall color

And the pumpkin village was still set up!
Yeah!  It was Peter Pan themed this year!

Another of our favorite traditions
going to see ICE at the Gaylord Hotel
This year they did Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer!

Amazing ice sculptures - as always!

Extra holiday treat this year -
went to the winery with Mom to learn the "right" way to
decorate Christmas cookies!
They were delicious-yum

Not Christmas but Jacob competed at the Regional
Robotics League this year

We had a quick trip to Austin to
play a little putt putt with family

And last but not least
we attended a production of the
Nutcracker!
I love this ballet and I hope to be going every year with
my kids until I am old and gray

First day of School Picture

Just realized how long it had been since I had updated the blog
on my to-do list
This was the kids first day of school picture
2018-2019

They are all rocking it this year - I can't believe that this is
Katy's last year in elementary school and Jacob's
last year in Middle school.
Yikes!

Halloween 2018

Tick or treat!
Halloween 2018 was a success
Katy was Harry Potter, Jacob was a storm trooper,
and Nikki was Anne from the "Greatest showman"
We had to get creative with her costume but she
looked like sunshine!

Katy and My birthday Adventure

This year for my and Katy's birthday we decided
to take a trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas.
I think Arkansas is a beautiful state with tons of
hiking and trails to explore.
Not to mention a cute downtown area.

Yes it rained on us - but we still had a great trip.

Katy and my cake
my attempt at a Harry Potter Unicorn Cake

The cake is scary but what a beautiful young lady
we are raising :)
