My mis-adventures in cake decorating

Okay so I had this great idea that I would make a princess cake for Katie's 2nd Birthday. Trying to fit into my new role as stay at home Mom. Parents magazine lied to me and said it was so easy a monkey could make this cake (well maybe not a monkey, maybe a small child)

Step One - two cute kids help make the cakes - check

Step Two Cut Out the Cakes to make a tower - sounds easy, but I lost half of a cake. No problem, we are still positive and with a little reassurance from my sister, Debbie ( who also said easy-peasy I could do it my sleep) we forge ahead.

This is Katie taste testing the cake with a pile of frosting - as we try to make it look like a castle - that's right people the correct answer here is that is suppose to be a castle....

Step Three - throw the cake in the freezer and hope that cake faries will decorate it for you while you are at the zoo. Sorry Virginia there are no cake faries. So deep breath and glass of wine that hubby bought for my birthday and we try to assemble a castle (remember the magazine said a 2 year old could do this :))

Step Four - Have cute kid stand next to cake so you don't notice the cake.

Step Five - Destroy the evidence! It tasted good and that is the important thing.
